Multilingual Institute

Multilingual Institute
December  4, 2021

The Multilingual Institute is a one- day, intensive training that takes place in early November. This Institute provides a strong foundation for effective ESL teaching. The event brings together ESL, reading, and writing teachers to collaborate with and learn from one another. Educators will expand their knowledge with evidence-based information designed for working with English Learners (ELs). Presentations will be framed around culturally relevant topics that impact the affective, linguistic, and cognitive domains of ELs. Session topics will address dual language, transitioning from L1 to L2, sheltered instruction, assessment, and technology.

Our theme for the conference will reflect the possibilities or ways educational spaces have been reimagined during the pandemic. Our organization’s ongoing rejuvenation serves as an invitation for educators who believe that ALL children deserve personally meaningful learning contexts that children (not programs) are the primary informants of literacy curriculum, and that teachers are experts in their classrooms to become active in the organization by sharing their visions and voices about the future of holistic literacy education.
