Bio: Dr. Roberta Scott Director of Social/Emotional Learning & Student Discipline in Houston ISD has been supporting efforts to dismantle the school to prison pipeline. Prior to her role in HISD Dr. Scott, has been supporting the growth of Culturally-Responsive and Emotionally Safe Learning environments in many districts across Texas through leading alternatives to punitive discipline measures, restorative practices, and implicit bias efforts. She also has experience working with districts across the nation, where she supports Multi-Tiered Systems of Support & PBIS work to decrease suspensions at the elementary level.  Dr. Scott currently serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor with Baylor College Medicine, Adjunct Professor with Texas Southern University and Facilitator for the University of Texas (IRJRD). She previously served in HISD for 15 years as a teacher, instructional/curriculum specialist, and program manager.

 

Dr. Scott holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Texas Southern University; a master’s in counseling and doctoral degree in educational leadership both from Prairie View A&M University. Most recently, she has co-authored three books and has received numerous awards. She shares her expertise with others by teaching workshops, public speaking events, and serving on a range of educational committees.
